Every 8th grade student in Mr. Jamsa’s classes has, alone or with a partner, chosen a project of passion to pursue. They pitched their idea to their peers to make sure that it had some importance, it was the right size, and to receive advice on how to improve it. Once a week until Christmas students are showing the passion as they learn about their chosen projects. The majority of work will be done outside of class. Many of these projects will also qualify for the state science fair in March. When completed, students will share their projects with authentic audiences around the community and world. Projects range from learning guitar and Japanese to building hurricane resistance houses, raising money for cancer research, and making a documentary of the at home puppy training. Genius Hour is the best hour of the week!
