The American Heart Association donated 3 “CPR in Schools” Training Kits to Silverton Middle School earlier this school year.  These kits provided us with 30 “Mini Annes”—the mannequins used to learn and practice first aid and CPR skills—as well as training DVD’s, kneeling pads, and practice AED devices.  The kits are valued at approximately $3,000 and help our school be compliant with Senate Bill 79 which requires CPR and AED training in grades 7-12.  Our Health teacher, Mrs. Hayden, just finished using the kits for the first time with our 8th grade health students, and their performances were impressive! Students are now able to properly provide CPR, rescue breaths, and AED assistance to adults and children.  Filling our community with adolescents who are prepared to save lives in emergency situations truly makes Silverton an even better place to live!
